Our Mission:

It is the mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Mobility Foundation to make people who have been disabled by Multiple Sclerosis mobile outside of their home by means of vehicle modification, and by doing so, enrich the quality of life and overall health of not only the sufferers of this disabling disease, but their loved ones and society as well.  It is our belief that though MS may take over the way our bodies function, we are still people with hearts, minds, and feelings, and we can still be productive members of society and contribute.  All we need is mobility, opportunity, and support.  To ensure success of the Foundation and the recipients of its’ gifts, we have created the MS Support Network.  A community where everyone affected by MS can connect with others, share, learn, and grow.

Our Vision:

It is our vision to change the world one person at a time.  We live in the United States of America, the land of Freedom and Opportunity.  But in this great country, you can ask anyone who lives in a body that doesn’t work, and their definition of Freedom will probably be very different than most Americans.

Imagine not only losing your mobility, being in a wheelchair, but not being able to leave your home because you can’t afford the costs to modify you vehicle.  Imagine being young, with small children, so isolated, so removed from the rest of the world.  Now imagine being able to take your children to the zoo because you had a vehicle with a ramp and hand controls.  Imagine being able to go to the grocery store.  Imagine not being able to take your daughter to the ballet lessons she wants so desperately because mommy’s legs don’t work and she can’t drive. Imagine being able to take her because your car is modified so you can – imagine the look on her face when she sees her very own ballet shoes.

Imagine all the gifted people who homebound, shut-ins.  Imagine if they were able to leave their homes.  What could they contribute?  Maybe they could work part-time.  Not only would that take some of the burden off of our already overburdened Social Security system, but it would give that person a purpose again, it would elevate their self-esteem, it would benefit their overall health, thus lowering their healthcare costs.  They could volunteer, or mentor, they could and would contribute.

I have been in an electric wheelchair for over a year.  I have a 3 and 4 year old.  I am 31.  I was a professional.  I volunteered until I could no longer drive, and still do what I can from home.  I had an I.Q. of 164.  Sadly, so sadly, I am not alone by any means.  I have spent a whole year imagining.  Imagine with me.  Imagine for others.  Imagine all the unused talents that are sitting inside the person sitting in the wheelchair inside the house.  Imagine how unnecessary that is.  Imagine the gift we can so easily give, how many people it will affect.  Imagine being part of literally changing the world.

This is our vision.

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Sincerely,

MSMF
